How should it look?

How should it look?

Ever since an accidental unprotected encounter - condom broke -  I am convinced that I have herpes or genital warts.
Reassurance in the STD forum helped, BUT, I now forget what is and isn't normal as far as the appearance of the head of the penis is concerned.

On the head I've noticed I have a small bit of chafing. Extremely small bumps, more noticeable sometime than others. And a variance in how dark the pink actually is. No pain other than a bit of dryness. No itching at all. But, it does look different to me. Almost irritated.

The docs in the other forum assure me it's not likely an STD. Can you shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

Mild, intermittent redness (irritation- or chafing-like) of glans (glands) is a non-specific, symptom that can not be linked with any particular STD. On the other hand, such findings may be caused by wearing tight underwear, (especially if made of synthetic materials). Try wearing loose, cotton underwear, especially during hot weather. Also, urine, if not removed from glans (glands) immediately after urination, can cause irritation over time.

"Extremely small bumps" you mentioned sounds like normal penile variations in texture.

Still, if more specific and permanent symptoms appear, appropriate diagnostic tests will be recommended by your physician.

Wishing You Optimal Health,
Dr. Jasmina Jankicevic

It also feels a bit irritated, but I am hyper sensitive to just about everything right now.

Well I can't shed any more light than a doctor, but usually the doctors on here highly recommend seeing a doctor in person. If this doctor didn't do that, then you really shouldn't worry.  If they had doubt in their mind that it could be an STD, they would have told you to see a doctor.  If the doctor told you to see one in real life, then SEE ONE.  If you are still worried, just see a doctor in real life.

My real concern now, that I have indeed, seen a doctor is that I paid $15 and have heard nothing from the doctors in this forum.

Thanks for the response. It's now incredibly dry almost wrinkly at times. Peeled a bit today too. Some red blotches too. I am on cipro right now. Could there be a link? I
