Huge Skin Lesion

I developed a fist sized skin lesion as a child after being stung by a jellyfish. My dermatologist believes that it is a birthmark however, this lesion has been on my chest days after the jellyfish stung me.

Picture of the lesion.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like mark caused after jelly fish sting and not like a birth mark. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.  Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.  Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,

I'm not a doctor, but I agree with you if I had a vote ...

My son had a huge local red swelling reaction to an immunization when he was 6yrs old and it took 2 yrs to go away.

His pediatrician said it was from the allergic reaction from the portion of the shot that he reacted to deep into the layers of the skin/muscle areas.

Eventually, in his case, it went away.

I would ask/see a dermatologist to see if there's anything that can be done cosmetically if it bothers you.

Sorry this happened -- jellyfish hurt a lot from what I've heard.
