Irritate anal region

Irritate anal region

I've read a few of the postings on here and while they sound a bit similar, they are different from that which I'm experiencing.  For about three years now, I've had a very irritated, red, itchy, raw, bloody anal region (the area right above the anusand now increasingly the perineal region, too).  I was told several years ago that I have some slight internal hemorrhoids, but they don't seem to be a problem and I'm not sure if it's related?

I read in one posting the doctor's response that there "was an outside chance it may be a yeast infection".  What exactly does that mean for the anal area since all I can find online is that a male can get it from a woman during unprotected sex (if she has a yeast infection).

I can't find anything about my diet that seems to aggravate this issue.  I use an antiseptic cream when it gets really inflamed and it seems to help - but it comes right back several days later.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

This discussion is related to abnormal itching in anal region?.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I've wondered if my...pardon me for my lack of better words..."hairy butt crack" causes me to sweat too much and leads to the irritation.  I've resorted to - I'm glad this is anonymous - using my clippers to shave the hair around my anus.  It doesn't seem to make a difference, but I do sweat less then and the area seems to stay cleaner.

Hi,

You could be right about the anal itching bein aggravated due to sweating.

Factors that increase risk of anal itching include - diabetes, recent antibiotic use, dry skin conditions and sweating.

The causes of anal itching include infections like pinworms, yeast and genital warts. It could be due to haemorrhoids or also cancer. Diarrhea and certai food stuffs can cause anal itching.

You should wear lose comfortable clothes, eat a high fibre diet and consult your doctor about the confirmed diagnosis and further management.

Let us know about how you are doing, what your doctor advises and if you need any other information.

Regards.

Your pinworm comment could very well be as I do get most itchy at night and do feel a bit of a "crawling sensation".  How ostensible do you think it to be for this to have lasted over three years, though?  I guess I'm having a hard time thinking I'd keep reinfecting myself for that long.  I neglected to mention before that I was diagnosed several years ago when I first investigated this as having anal fissures also.  I have a very good diet with plenty of fiber and no issues with healthy, daily bowel movements, so I think those can be eliminated (no pun intended).  I will see a dermatologist and will let you know what happens.  Cheers.
