Is it OK/skin-safe?

by damdji, Apr 10, 2008 05:02AM
Hi
Is it OK to use a rose water on face every morning and evening as a toner. The rose water I am using has only two ingredients in it and it is from Lebanon and it is used for food dressings. The ingredients are simple: water and rose essence. I find that it moisturises my skin just enough. I have oily skin and would rather not moisturise. Would you please tell me if this is in any way harmfull for my facial skin? Thank you.

Hi,

At this point, there seems to be no material showing clinical trials that would establish the effectiveness and safety of rosewater when used in treating skin conditions. However, rosewater has been shown to have antibacterial and antioxidant properties and has been used widely all over the world. Rose water is also a main ingredient in many beauty products available in the market today.

I do not think there is anything to be worried about. For as long as this is 100% organic and you have no known allergies to rosewater, you may continue using it.
