Itching

My wife has unbearable itching on her skin - she feels as though there are bugs under the skin or a hair brushing (and there is neither)

It is a condition that comes and goes.

There is no rash, no heat no redness - no nothing!

If anyone knows anything about this, please help

Thanks

Over 10 to 15 years ago, my back started to itch for no reason, I did not have a rash or anything and I went to so many dermatologist and I was given Cortorzone shots, Ultraviolet light treatment and nothing worked.  My Gynocologist recomended I go to one of the top Dermatologist and her the problem was solve.  It was caused by my Thyroid.  They gave me some medication and it was all gone...May she should have them check her Thyroid because to my understanding if your Thyroid is out of wack it can cause many issued that you would have never thought.

Hope you feel better.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This itching of skin can be due to dry skin, skin diseases like eczema or psoriasis, internal diseases like diabetes, liver of kidney diseases or contact dermatitis.Ask your wife to take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin and apply calamine lotion on the itchy areas. She can also apply mild steroid cream on the rash.

If the rash persists, then internal diseases mentioned above have to be probed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
