for about a month and a half now. Started out with itchy, red blotches, now my palms are just itchy, peeling, and look striated. A little better, but no great improvement. Have tried everything over the counter, except for cortisone products.
cause these types of symptoms, and for so long? I had worked a part-time job at a mexican fast food restaurant. I stopped working there a week or so before these symptoms began. I wore non latex gloves all the time, handled searing hot tortillas off the grill, while working most of the time during food prep - very painful
Hello,
It looks like contact dermatitis and the latex gloves can be responsible for this. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.
For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Thank you for your response. I am going to try a cortisone cream. I prefer homeopathic remedies, and will probably investigate them more specifically as well.
Just seems to be taking its time to return to normal. I keep my hands
alot, and everyday use of hands probably aggravate the condition.
I will see a dermatologist in the near future for this, and a possible pilonidal cyst and sinus, and a couple of suspicious, but not alarming freckle type markings.
I am fair skinned, and have always had acne prone skin. I just turned 46, and have always had good general health.
