Itchy rash spreading quickly on my 7 yr old

In the beginning of the summer (a few months ago) both of my daughters got a rash on their inner thighs.  It started out as bumps that looked almost like mosquito bites but then spread and became raised red patches that were very itchy.  My oldest daughter (9) rash has cleared up and just left a purpleish colored scar.

My younger daughter (7) has not been so lucky!  In the last 2 weeks this rash has gotten out of control.  She is miserable and so uncomfortable.  The rash starts out the same as little skin colored bumps that itchy like crazy, spread everywhere she itches and then becomes this red blistering rash that scabs from itching.  Currently the rash is now on her entire legs, feet, hands, arms and buttocks.  She has no rash on her back, torso, face or neck...yet.

My pediatrician flat out told me she didn't know what it was and to go to a dermatologist.  We went to a dermatologist who also told us she didn't know what it was.  She told me it wasn't contagious and sent us home with a prescription for the rash becuase parts of her skin look infected and a prescription strength hydro cortisone cream.  It is only getting worse and worse.  I feel terrible for her.

Has anyone dealt with something like this?  Any clue what it might be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to an allergic reaction, viral infection or scabies bites. Even eczema needs to be ruled out. Rash in scabies is usually found in the folds of skin and they are red blister like rashes.Yet they are very itchy and can disrupt life.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I forgot to say one thing...my pediatrician did order blood work to check for food allergies, celiacs and to just do an overall check of her blood...no results yet...

I appreciate your help - as her mom, I hurt for her...it is very frusturating when you don't know how to help your child.
