Itchy skin ,driving me mad

by scratchme, Apr 08, 2008 06:29AM
Hi I thought I would joinin as I have been going down the same path as other for almost a month into my fourth week of itchy crawling lice like sensations. With this I have bombedmy unit , used two cans of mortein, covered my body 3 times with body lice /scsbbies lotion bought from the chemist. Too embarrassed to tell many people keep a low profile at home mainly engaged to the washing machine and stripping off every garment and showereing and washing xclothess thie minute I arrived home. Settleing down on my lounge off go the itches again, determined I have lice in my coushins not only did I wash the covers but I washed the inserts. Exhausting!! Then it dawned on me the antibiotic eye drops I had been using were sulphur based, Finally went to the Doctor who said I had no lice and perhaps a viral allergy , prescribed me prednisone (cortisome) for 3 days .Felt alleviated for two. Had a few wines  followed by charcoal chicken the next evening and then back to itcching again. Maybe the chickens are injected with sulphur antibiotics?? May be I am becoming totally neurotic. Now I have decided to discard the yummy free chicken and give up nuts as they are making me feel very bloated after the cortisome and stop drinking alcohol. on my once a week night. What is left. Am I to give up glutin what is that all about? Thought Iwould share my journeyu and hope we can discover the answer to thiss. My concern is that the crawling does fgeel kind of electrical and I wqonder if it has to do with too much mercury,.. seafood , fish oil tablets?? or perhaps an unstable chemical reaction with electrolites. Any other ideas????

Hi,

For how long have you been experiencing this?

As you have posted, these symptoms of itchiness, the crawling ,electrical sensation may be nerve related. As nerve related disorders may present with symptom of burning , tingling, and crawling,it may be a differential in your case aside from an allergic reaction.

I suggest you discuss this with your physician. Are you taking any supplements or medications?

An allergy skin testing as well as evaluation of Vit B6 or B12 levels may help. A thyroid function test to assess hormones may also be helpful just to rule any underlying systemic cause of your symptoms.
