Itchy

Hi, I was wondering I had this patch of well I thought it was dry skin it was kind of scaley when I noticed it and itchy so I would put cream on it and it seemed to releave it some what well now in its place the skin discolord a little and the itchy dry skin is gone.  On my neck i notice i started to get small red bumps that are itch they are close together and itchy some are filled with a clear sort of liquid the frount of my neck is getting red now and it is itchy now to.  On my arms and legs these spots have shown up but they are individual spots on my arms there are about six on each and they are smaller than a dime they are itchy and they had this clear liquid in them my legs the same but there are more than my arms and on the back of my knee cap in the bend there well the same thing as my back it seems a a patch of dry skin and it is itchy I also noticed in the patch there are raised bumps in the patch of dry skin.

Also to add to it I tried to take my kids swimming in the local pool and boy is my skin sensitive it burned like I jumped into a bath of fire.  My skin just hurt.  My husband took the kids and I went to shower it was ok after that and I don't think it added to it.  My eyes as well I was splashed in the eye on a seperate occation with pool water and it got in my eye...and oh my, my eyes burned like I had been cutting onions and then rubbed my eyes.  I am not sure if all this is related but even drying my skin with a towel seems to be an enhanced sensation.  Now I don't know what to think or what this is....Oh I almost for got I am 30years old and a female....if you have any suggestions please send them my way.  I also know that it isn't contagious because no one I have been in contact with in my house hold or any other situation has it.  I am asking because I cannot get in to see a doctor until July so if there is something I can be doing then please let me know.  It hurts my heart that I cannot take my kids to the pool as they love to swim.  And it is embarassing to have this rash.  Thanks.

Hi,

You are welcome.

If this condition resolves spontaneously only to come back at a specific time each year then a possible environmental trigger should be noted. At this point, I know this is easier said than done. An allergic skin test may be an option here if this appears to get worst over time.

Some persons are far more atopic or sensitive than others. Try to keep a journal just to take note of the weather, new activities, recent travel, pets  food that one has been exposed to everyday. This helps keep track of any changes which may be associated with a flare up of the skin condition.

Thank you so much no I do not have any known allergies and a doctor said before that it was an allergic reaction but the cause was never determined.  The doctor I went to last year laughed the fact that it could be an allergic reaction and gave me some cream that made it worse, yes it keeps coming back every year or every couple of months and can last a long time.  I hope that there is a way to discover the triggering factor.  Thank you so much for your comment I really appreciate it.

Hi,

This may be case of allergic or irritant dermatitis. You have noted some redness and the presence of vesicles or blisters containing fluid. You have also noted dryness and itchiness.

Do you have any known allergies?

Any history of allergies or asthma in the family?

I suggest that you seek consult with an internist or dermatologist to have this assessed. If an allergic dermatitis is a differential here, then you may need to determine the triggering factor.

This does not sound contagious. Just avoid any exposure to abrasive substances like detergents, strong perfumes, swimming pools and some creams, lotions and soaps until you have been assessed by your physician.
