Losing my fingerprints

Losing my fingerprints

I have a problem with my hands and dry skin. Well I noticed my fingers started to feel like I had superglue on them. Now they are still numb and the print is almost gone. Has this ever happened to anyone? What can I do to soften my fingers back up? They also hurt really bad and the crack and bleed alot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Which hands are involved?

Has this occurred gradually over time?

Are there other involved areas in the body?

Do you apply anything on your hands prior to the onset of the symptoms?

Any direct exposure to chemicals and abrasive substances?

Have you changed lotions or creams lately?

With regards to the numbness, do you experience numbness in the other parts of the body?

I know you are worried but please  bear with me as I clarify some details through my questions.

Hi, This has happened over a period of about 2 to 3 weeks. The palms of my hands are very dry and cracked also, but they aren't numb. By saying they are numb, I mean they feel like they have superglue all over them, like a covering on them. I've tried to put neosporin on them ( it didn't work) I've tried Aquaphor healing ointment, didn't work. I've put bandaids on them and nothing is helping. I don't know what to do. Even typing on the computer is hard because I can't tell if my fingers are in the right place. Thank for replying. I appreciate it.

I have no answers for you, but I have the same problem.  For me this started about 5 weeks ago, with a patch of thick, rough skin that grew on the first finger of the right hand.  It is only on the palmar surface of my hand, and is now on my thumb, as well as the pointer of the other hand.  My skin cracks and bleeds, and it's a pain in the butt.  Both pointer fingers feel funny, exactly like you described, as if I got them into some superglue. For me this occured congruently with swelling of the joints in my hands...My diagnosis is lupus, and secondary sgrogens syndrom (syndrome), which is typically a drying of the mucus membranes.  The MD seems to think that this dry skin is somehow related to the that, so you might want to check for autoimmune disorders.  Try putting cortisone on your fingers ( a lot) cover it with gauze, and then use tape or band-aids to hold it in place.  This should at least soften the skin a little.  Always wear gloves when you do dishes or anything else that has your hands wet...It wont solve the problem, but might keep it from getting worse.
