Molluscum contagiosum is a harmless virus that may persist for months or occasionally for a couple of years. It can spread from person to person by direct skin contact or sexual transmission. There is no single perfect treatment of molluscum contagiosum and in many cases no specific treatment is necessaryurettage . If curettage was done, there is the risk of not removing all lesions. This is why you refrain from sexual contact until your next follow-up with your dermatologist.
Take care and regards.
