No one can diagnose rash I have had for 3 months.

About 3 1/2 months ago a rash developed on my top thigh and eventually spread to my other leg(same area) and lower abdomen.  It is red, very itchy, dry, and spread out(looks more like hives then a pimple).I have seen several Doctors, had a biopsy, 29 allergy patch test and have taken Prednisone, several other meds and topical creams with no results. Does anyone have any idea what a possible diagnosis could be?

From the symptoms one possibility that needs to be ruled out is of eczema. It is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

If the symptoms persist then topical and oral steroids may be needed and diagnosis confirmed by biopsy skin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
