Non-itchy white spot started on left eyelid for 8 year old. Became a patch in 3 mon. Started to apply a topical cream. Within a week, whitishness appears to fade away. I am getting a doubt if the pigment is slowly recovering ? (not sure !). If Vitiligo, it wont fade away that quickly (guessing, again !). Hence, making efforts to understand the partial pigment loss scenarios from the group and how it differs from classical Vitiligo.
Below find my understanding of the 2 two disorders:
Hypopigmentation: Pigmentation loss, due to some kind of irritation, inflammation, trauma. The trauma can be simple injuries (ex: falling from bike, injuries during playing soccer etc side effects from Vaccination.). Apparently, the pigementation loss is reversible.
Vitilogo: complete loss of pigment. Apparently, usually difficult to treat. May be reversible (if lucky !) in the early stages......
Hi there. What kind of partial pigment loss do you have? Arms, legs, itchy, not itchy, painfull, not painfull...etc. I am having problems with blotchy arms and legs and the pigment of my skin. Just want to see if they are the same thing. I dont know what this is. I also have white spots on my upper back. I know what this is. Could you explain what hypopigmentation and vitiligo are?
