Dry penis

My boyfriend of two and a half years developed dry patches on his penis that peel, itch and are painful. He saw aphysician for this and was diagnosed as having an allergic reaction to lubricant. We stopped using the lubricant he was prescribed a steroid cream which he used for two weeks. Since then the problem got better for a while but has returned. He is currently using vitamin E oil after he showers which seems to help until we have intercourse again. I have been treated for a vaginal group B strep and a yeast infection in the past year but currently am having no problems. Could he be allergic to me? We are out of ideas.

Hello,
From the symptoms it sounds like eczema. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Also use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

If still the symptoms do not improve then pls get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and regards.
