Penis Rash

by chrismsn, Jun 15, 2005 12:00AM
I have a rash on the underside of my penis that is only on the underside from the top to the bottom, also abit on the scrotum but it is not spreading.
The rash can be itchy and red when irritated by sweat, heat etc. and becomes more visiblly red and irritated.
The skin does Not flake.
I have been using Daktakort Cream for 8 months now to help stop the itching and redness but it has not got rid of it just works temporary, also i tried using mycil powder but that has not worked either.
The rash started when i had the same type of rash under my arms which i was prescribed dakacort which strangely worked temporarly and when i started using an under arm anti-perspirant stopped it coming back.
I have not been to a doctor, for obvious reasons. Would i ask to see the dermatologist doctor and how am i goin to break the ice??
If you can help with what i could do to get rid of this rash i would be most gratefull. Or if not give me some confidence to see a doctor.

  Regards.

The most common rash in the area you describe that looks like what you have is eczema.  This is irritated, but not contagious.  Treating with a steroid cream like the one you're using helps, but only temporarily.

If you're embarrassed to see a skin doctor, I think you don't need to be.  You almost certainly don't have anything sexually-related or contagious, so you have nothing to lose by going and much to gain by getting a proper diagnosis, good counseling, and proper treatment.

Best.
