Hello- I'm looking for some out-of-the -box ideas to treat my angular cheilitis. I've been to several doctors (dermatologists and GP's) trying to find a way to effectively treat this condition for the last 13 months. I've been prescribed everything from anti-fungals (topical and oral diflucan, nystatin) to antibiotics (topicals and oral tetracycline, doxycycline, bactroban, altabax) to steroids (topical and oral prednisone and hydrocortisone .2% USP). I've tried homeopathics such as aloe, emu oil, tea tree oil, etc. and OTC meds- nothing has worked.
I met a dermatologist that finally took a biopsy of the sore/inflammation, and the report said that there was no bacterial or fungal infection present, but that there was evidence of a benign cyst in the skin sent for study. When the biopsy was done, there was no evidence of a cyst so that surprised me. At my check up apointment, when I believed the doctor would remove the rest of the growth, she said that she didn't see a cyst any longer and that she wanted to treat me for angulat cheilitis which has been done ad nauseum... I'm frustrated.
I don't tend to drool a whole lot and in fact sleep on my right side to make sure that if I do drool, I'm doing so on the opposite side of this sore. I take vitamin B supplements, I make sure I get enough sleep- the only thing I really can't fix right now is the amount of stress I'm under, but having this growth at the corner of my mouth isn't helping!
I'm willing to entertain ANY ideas right now- I just need it to go away, whatever it is.
