Pink, leathery skin at base of penis

Hi Medhelp community.

For the past month I have had this strange "thing" going on with my penis. Basically, at the bottom of the shaft (base of the penis) the skin is slightly discolored and pink/light red looking.

Here are the symptoms:

* Pinkish/reddish small patches (which are interconnected) at the very base of penis; kind of like a rash really.
* Skin isn't raised
* No blisters, pus, bleeding or anything
* Skin feels and looks slightly leathery and dry. Sometimes it can get very dry in fact.
* Absolutely ZERO pain, itching, or discomfort.
* No pain urinating, when touching the "rash" or anything.

Background to the problem:

* Male, 21 years old.
* Been with current girlfriend 2 years; she had never slept with anybody before me.
* Girlfriend was recently diagnosed with a yeast infection.
* I have been tested for everything before (blood tests for syphilis etc included), as well as herpes about 6 months ago when I had a small pimple-like lesion appear. All tests have been negative.
* Hot water makes the rash look worse; it becomes very red and dry/scaly after going in a hot tub or swimming.

Any clues as to what this could be? I'm thinking either some form of yeast/fungal infection, or maybe dermatitis or eczema.

It's not annoying in the painful sens; simply a bit unsightly to look at.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be irritation or dermatitis skin and not necessarily fungal infection. You need to get it examined from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment is diagnosis specific.
You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid deodorant / cosmetics. You can also use calamine lotion or cream with zinc oxide paste applied directly to wet skin after bathing.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
