Protopic for Lichen Nitidus?

Protopic for Lichen Nitidus?

Hi. I am a 19 year old male who has suffered Lichen Nitidus on the glans (glands) of my penis, my arms, and some what around my neck for a total of 8 years. I just recently went to the dermatologist to see what this rash(before I knew it was Lichen Nitidus)was...The doctor did a Biopsy and yes it was Lichen Nitidus. I was prescribed Protopic 0.1%. So I have been using this product for about a week and I haven't really seen any results...Maybe I'm being a little impatient. How long does it normally take for anyone to see results from Protopic...note that I have had Lichen Nitidus...(severe on glans (glands)) for 8 years. The dermatologist told me that It would go away on its on but It has been 8 years and enough is enough. This is little embarrassing. Would you say that Protopic is the best treatment for Lichen Nitidus? And also how many weeks or months will I have to wait before Lichen Nitidus is fully gone. Note that I'm using 0.1% two times a day.
Thank you.

It may not be possible to clear up lichen nitidus at all.  Protopic is a reasonable choice, but a week is not nearly enough to tell.  I suggest waiting another 6 weeks and then discussing with your dermatologist the possible alternative of a cortisone-based cream.

Best.

Ok and one last question if I may ask. I know that Protopic reduces inflammation. So if it does work...and the inflammation goes down...will I still have pigmentation or will Protopic take care of that aswell? Thanks.
