Prototic for penis vitilligo spots

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/455175?post_id=post_2596525
This is a follow up.
Saw Dermatologist. Diagnoses: atopic dermatitus (poss vitilligo)
Though rare, these pigment loss spots are possible side effects from having a fungal infection and having too healthy an immune system. (tis true, I beat HepB last year, and had coup de sabre in 1989)
prescribed: Protopic 0.1% ointment 2x a day for 6 weeks
follow-up visit : 6 weeks.

He said if this ointment doesn't' return the skin color we can try laser.

My question:
Is it possible that the pigment will return on it's own. (I'm not liking the insufficient long term data on this medicine)
and that this condition is on my penis.

Thank you Doctor,
Michael*

If the light spots are from inflammation caused by eczema, then yes, the color can return on its own.  By helping the eczema, the Protopic may promote that, and can also help vitiligo.  I don't think you need to worry about Protopic's safety, but if you want to try waiting a few months first to see if the color comes back on its own, I se no problem with that.  You can always try the Protopic later.

Best.
