RED PATCH ON PENIS HALF WAY UP ON THE LEFT

Hi there,

1 Week ago i woke up to find a post half way up my penis on the side of the skin. It looked like a yellow head you get on your face.

At the same time i did have a cold sore on my lips.

However, the next day the top popped and a small amount of yellow liquid came out.

Since then, it has not grown ot shrunk and you can still see a little yellow spot underneath and the area around it is not raised but shiny skin.

Iv been with my partner for 18 months and have had no other sexual contact.

This does not seem to get better or worse and dosnt itch or hurt in anyway.

Could this be a problem???

Thanks.

Last friday I woke up with a yellow head type spot and burst it saturday.

Since then the yellow head is a 1/3 of the size and the skin around it is not raised but is red and shiny.

Its not getting worse.

Would you leave it another week or so???

How long can skin take to heal??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

Based on your post, there are some factors which may affect possible diagnosis:

1. presence of sexual contact
2. history of red bumps in other parts of the body which may  possibly be  due to an insect bite
3. the bump exudes a yellowish discharge

The presence of a red bump on the genitals with a yellowish discharge may suggest that an infection is present. In the presence of a significant sexual history, an STD has to be ruled out here. I suggest that you have a baseline consult with a urologist here. A gram stain and culture of the discharge may help ascertain the organism involved here. A urinalysis and blood tests for STD's may also be done. This may be something superficial. A boil or folliculitis may also be considered. However, in cases such as these systemic infections need to be ruled out first.

I would call the doctor and ask the nurse or doctor and see what they would want you to do.  It may just be taking its time healing.  It's a good sign that it's not getting any worse.

It could be a bite that will heal on its own.  It could also be a bite that is becoming infected.  It could be a number of other things as well.

If it doesn't go away in a day or two or gets worse, I would go and see the doctor.
