Rash- Gential area

I have had a problem with extreme burning pain between where my legs meet my scrotum, and white bumps are surrounded by red skin. The area is moist, despite drying it out many times. There is also a smell that reminds me of infection. The skin isn't deeply red always, and there are very few white spots, but they burn so very bad. I tried just using the medicated goldbond paste to relieve the pain, and drying it out repeatedly, but the pain always comes back, and gets worse. Within the day, even if it was dried out.

I have tried over the counter antifungal and that didnt work.

Also, there it doesnt matter what I do really, it burns anyway, but movement causes it to flare up worse. I've taken pictures of the area, and they show red patches with a few white bumps. by a few, i mean like 4 or 5 altogether.

I tried doing everything I can, but seeing a doctor is sort of a I can't afford it (no insurance, college student, etc.) And I already had two visits earlier this month on a tmj issue and Mono. :(

Please someone, helppppp.

P.S. This smell that I keep smelling is carried in the sweatlike liquid, and is very strong. I even have it coming back immediately after showering.

Does your underwear leg- edge go into that area? It can rub and irritate the skin and make it raw and hurt. If yours does, go to a longer length brief that ends further down your legs so it won't rub. Try using free and clear detergent and only a free and clear softner (usually found in dryer sheets). Go to a soap for sensitive skin, no perfumes. Try Desenex cream to rub in those cracks and try to get as much air to the areas as you can. You can dust with corn starch to help keep it dry during the day. When it starts clearing up keep using it a week or two after it has disappeared. I had a similair problem and the doctor said I was not getting it completely well and it causes it to come back. He recommended Desenex. You need the cream because of the area it is in. Stay away from colored underwear and use cotton. Many people have that problem where their watch band is around their wrists and no air gets to it capturing the moisture. It will also have a smell. It is caused by a fungus from the moisture. If you are taking anti-biotics it can cause that problem also. If you sweat a lot then just apply the desenex cream every night and it should keep it away. Hope this helps.

I don't want this to come off as if I'm offending you, but I'm curious as to what type of soap you are using to clean the area.  I know some women with saggy breasts will develop this smell that you described and it develops when their skin is irritated and sweats.  I know of some people who have switched to an antibacterial soap and then once they get out of the shower, they dry the area completely with a blow dryer.  I wouldn't recommend using a moisturizing soap where that defeats the purpose of trying to keep the area dry.  Does the college not have a doctor's clinic there on campus where you could explain your misery?  Or if you've been seeing the same primary care physician for a long time, you should be able to call them and tell them your symptoms and they should just call something in to the pharmacy, where that would save you dr's visit bill.  Hope you get some relief fast!
