Rash: Type, Cause, Cure?

I've been reading all over trying to determine what this is, but the best I can come up with are a couple of conditions that it might be. I have a visit scheduled with a dermatologist, but in the meantime would still like to try and determine what exactly the rash is, why I'm getting it, and how to stop it.

Any help is very much appreciated.

It looks like Tinea Versicolor, which is a fungus.

Hello,
The picture is not very clear and unfortunately ,you have not mentioned any symptoms or description of the rash,so it is difficult confirming the diagnosis.Pls mention about the symptoms and description of rash so that I can chalk out the differentials.

Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

Just to add a little...the rash shown is indicative of what is on my throat (basically only where the hair grown on my throat), shoulders, forearms, back of knees, back of neck, inner thighs, lower back, and butt...

The ones on my arm went away with some lotion prescribed by my doctor but came back. Now they look like scars.
