Rash where the blood is under skin

Hello all from Cincinnati Ohio

I have a very important question. My mother is 56 years old and just recently (2months ago) broke out with a mild rash on the back of her legs. It wasnt itchy or irratible. This past Sunday 5/17 the rash broke out very bad where in a 24 hour period it started to spread all over her legs and back and back of arms. You can tell that it is blood under the skin. We went to the emergency room around 8:00pm and she was admitted to a bed. They took blood work and gave a IV steroid to stop the spreading. Once the docter spoke to us he told us they dont have a diagnosis. And he said that the platelets are forcing the blood to the surfice but not above the skin but under. After 2 days pass they release her from the hospital. Now it is Wednesday and we have an appointment with a Dermatologist tomarrow. My mother has chronics pain. Heres the list of medications she takes. Cymbalta, Oxycottin, and they made her stop taking her lipitor. The Rash looks very bad. I have a picture of it. I'll send it to you. I really need some help and input. I greatly appriatte your time. Its been a very bad year for my family its just me(im 27) and my mother , shes my angel. If you could please send me any information on what you think it is thank you.

Thank you very much with your quick reply. We seen a Dermatologist this afternoon and she took a biopsy of the rash. She mentioned the "vasculitis" Her platelets were a little high other than that. The results will be back in 10 days. Any further information would be great. Shes takena steriod right now. Thanx again

Disseminated intravascular coagulation without internal bleed can happen as apart of vasculitis.Blood tests relating to platelets, fibrinogen, prothrombin time can lead to diagnosis.
