Reccuring Shingles

I am a 25 year old female, and for the past 2 years I have been getting clusters of shingles on my left buttock, symptons usually last around 1-2 weeks, and scarring has occurred. I get around 15 bouts of shingles a year, sometimes months apart and sometimes weeks apart. I have tried Anciclovir tablets and cream which clears the bout, but after the course it will flare up a few weeks later. It is starting to get me down, as nothing seems to get rid of it, and the scars are horrible. What can I do to stop it coming back for good??? The itchyness and the pain is also becoming unbearable, and obviously if I scratch it, the infection spreads. Please advise or help

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Talk to your doctor of the suppression therapy for recurrent shingles. Talk to your doctor  for a prescription for prophylaxis  for a few months which may help prevent outbreaks. Try to avoid re-exposure to the herpesvirus responsible for chicken pox or shingles.

Take care and keep us posted.
