I saw a Dr. about it and he thought it was Herpes but didn't know for sure so he referred me to a dermatologist. He also prescribed 500 mg of Valtrex once a day for a week just because. I only took two of the pills before I saw the dermatologist and she took bacterial and viral cultures. This was last week on thursday. I just got called with the test results and they came back negative (THANK GOODNESS!). However, I was cautioned because of the presence of an anti-viral medication the test results might be a false negative. However, I am trying to be optimistic. The bumps have started to heal and were only painful for about two days. I also believe they started to heal before I started treatment so I don't know what to think yet.

From the symptoms it can be folliculitis , cysts or genital herpes. Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur. Typically, another outbreak can appear weeks or months after the first, but it almost always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak.
