Red Burning skin syndrome

Red Burning skin syndrome

I have been seeing a Dermatologist for about a year now because of a small rash in my right jaw.  All he did was prescribed a cortizone cream which did not really work very well.  Anyway, I did all the tests I could possibly have and all the results were negative (blood test, bipsy, XRay, EKG, stress test).  2 weeks ago, I was referred to this Dermatologist in Beverly Hills and he said that I have a Corticosteroid Addiction and withdrawl (withdrawal) in the Atopic: The Red Brning Skin Syndrome.  In medical terms I don't know what the heck is this.  Am I addicted to those cortisone creams?  Did I used it too long?  Right now my whole face is swollen for about 3 weeks now since the Dr. told me to stop putting those cortizone creams.  Not sure if this is okay because I'm afraid I'm infected with something.  Any comments about my condition.  Thanks.
