Red Scrotum

Hello...

Last Friday I had unprotected sex with a woman.  I have been tested in the past for HSV1 and HSV2.  My HSV1 was a defininate positive> 5.0 , HSV1< .90.

Saturday after my encounter I started to notice that my penis was burning urinination.  Since then my scrotumn has a burning sensation and the tip of my penis remains sore (actually comes and gos and is not always sore when I urinate). For a day or so I had some burning in my feets and legs.

My biggest concern is the  HSV1.  Could this be an outbreak since I cannot prove where I am infected?  I am thinking I could have had a sore in my uretha?  Would I have other symptoms.

I also read this article on your site,  http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Dermatology/Red-Scrotum-Syndrome-or-Atypical-Herpes-Dr-Rockoff-please/show/242747.  The siuation sounds very similar.

I went to the doc yesterday to give a urine sample to eliminate baterical issues.  I am just looking for some opinions on the matter.

Thanks

I am planning some other STD testing in a month or so to rule out clymidia and gonhorria.

Thanks

Hello,

It is true that type 2 is predominant in genitals and type 1 in mouth, but both virus can be present in both places. It is more common for oral HSV-1 to be transmitted to the genitals through oral sex, than it is for HSV-2 to be transmitted to the mouth.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

The symptoms subsided after a week.  I did not get a chance to test for STD's yet.  It is my understanding the Clymidia and Gohnera need at least a week. So I will give it another to be sure.

My urine came back negative for any bacterial issues. I do not believe it is a new STD. I am more concerned about my HSV1 infection.  The more I read the more I find HSV1 can be passed to the gentitals and it is becoming more and more common.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hello,
It can be due to balanoposthitis or urethritis also. Your HSV 1 is positive and HSV 1 has a predilection for oral symptoms or sores around the mouth. You should get a urine examination and culture and a swab sample of the urethra and the surrounding skin done.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing

I did masterbate on Saturday and I spent 25 miles on a Mountain Bike on Friday.  I guess what I am getting at is there was alot of "trama" to the area in a few days.  The issues started on Sunday.

Thanks
