Red Spots/Corner of Mouth

I have always drooled in my sleep which has led to crusty skin on the side of my face when I wake up. The big issue started when I would shave after 4-5 days without shaving - where the dry skin used to be was now replaced with light red spots at the corner of my mouth. Now - these red spots are much bigger and a darker red now that the cold weather has arrived. I have had these red spots for most of my life, but it has never been this bad. When I rub the red spots, they are very smooth - almost like plastic. I feel like the skin is just dead, but doesn't peel or anything. I have been told a million different things by members of my family - but my honest opinion is that the skin is just dead. My aunt told me I needed to take some anti-fungals - a pharmacist told me I needed to take cortizone 10 cream - I had another person tell me I needed to take neosporen.

I have attached a picture of the spots.

I would go with your aunty. Do apply anti-fungal creme once and vaseline at bedtime. No cortisone please. Do consult your doc.
Best wishes.
