Red bumps on shaft

Ok I am hoping to get some help and advice with this problem.  Last friday I was playing golf and working out in pretty hot weather.  I got very sweaty!  I immediatly showered and went out to eat with my fiance.  When I came home, for whatever reason I examined my self and noticed what looked like three red spots in the same area on the underside of my penis.   This was last friday during the week there was one very prominant spot that was always visible but the other two spots seemed to vanish.  I have been examining myself alot since I noticed these bumps and to examine myself I am pulling on myself alot.   Yesterday I noticed that the other two bumps were visible again the bumps showed up again after a 5 mile run...  I freaked out and began checking myself through out the day.   Last night i noticed there were two more red bumps on a different part of my penis... right next to each other.

These spots are all hair follicles, they do not hurt and do not itch  they are just red bumps with hair comming out.

I leave for vacation in 2 hours and am freaking out because I wont be able to go to a doctor.   So my question is this ?   Does this sound like inflamed hair follicles or something more systematic ?    These bumps have never come to a head and are only painful when I examine them for awhile.

My other question is by my contstant examining and pulling that area is it possible that those other bumps are caused by this ?   Also is this something that will resolve on its own ?

You need to get it under control. When ever i get these i wash with hot water (dont burn yourself) and put on a dab of 1% cortizone cream with aloe to stop the inflamation. Try it at at night after a hot bath and before bed and you feel better in the morning.

Thank you for the very quick response.   I do not suspect an STD as I have been with my fiance for the last 8 years.   I was concerned that I would wake up with thousands of inflamed hair follicles like this.  I worry alot and tend to assume the worst case scenario for everything.

Had I not decided for whatever reason to examin myself that night I more than likely would not have even noticed these pink  hair follicles.

Is this something that tends to resolve on its own ? It seems like the longer I can go without poking and prodding these things the lighter they get.

Hi and welcome. We cant diagnose here but from a common sense position, if they are coming out of a hair follicle then very well could be inflamed. In humid areas with increased heat and movement, bacteria build up rather quickly and touch them isnt helping. Like the old saying, if it looks like a frog and smells life a frog, its probably a frog!
Are you concerned this is an STD? If so dosent fit the symptoms.
