Red dry peeling skin on head of penis

K so my girlfriend and I had protected sex about two weeks ago now and I have to two doctors about the problem. After the sex the head of my penis was red dry and tender to the touch.. Thr next few days the under side of my shaft got very itchy... I went to the doc and they said it looked like jock itch or some fungal infection so she prescribed ketoconazole..  Rash didn't clear up much and only seemed to dry out so I went back to a different doc a week later.. He said it looked like an allergic reaction of some kind and advised no sex for a few weeks... I don't think he was right... He also said to stop using the ketoconazole cream.. Since that appt which was 3 days ago I have been putting petroleum mosterizers on the area.. This helped with some of the redness and irritation.. Is it possible this could be a friction burn or something like that? I know healing dry skin can itch sometimes so that would explain that. But I'm still very confused

Thanks for the reply. I talked to one of my good friends about the problem and her explanation made sense. When we had sex that time.. It was right before she got her period which means she was most likely more dry than normal. I used lubrication on both the inside and outside of the condom which means as the outside would dry.. My penis would move on the inside of the condom which would rub off the skin.. It looks much better now and the skin is appearing to turn more normal colors than when I posted prevously.. I've been using hydrocortisone and also more petroleum moisturizers on the area.. The only problem now is the itching along the base of the shaft. I'm planning to avoid sexual contact for at least a week to see how it looks then. If it's not better I will
Once again visit my doctor

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like contact dermatitis or eczema. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
