Red pimple like lesion on LIP..please help!!!

I had a red bump looks like a dark red pimple on the upper lip..where my facial skin meets my lip!! It started off small and grew to a large pimple. I dont know what this is and im very scared..i dont think it formed a white head yet. what can this be..do you think this can be a regular pimple or is this a sign of herpes.
3 weeks ago i had the same pimple in the nearby area got lots of pus on and off it finally went away but i have what looks like a red scar where that pimple use to be..
what can all this be and is all this related, should i have anything to worry about?
i noticed my wife aslo had a large pimple with pus on the right side of her bottom lip.where her facial skin meets lip..what does all this mean???
