Scarring

What are the chances of having a permanent scar if i used a home Freeze-Away kit on small red bumps on the shaft of my penis. The doctor had recommended freezing them but i tried to do it myself. I only would touch it for a second at a time then pull away and wait at least 5 sec then try it again. I did this about 36 hours ago and nothing seemed to change except that it is a slightly red where it was applied. I have been applying a healing ointment so as to prevent any scar but i was just curious. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

We can never give a guarantee that scarring will not take place here as it is part of the normal wound healing process. We can try to avoid any infections here by keeping the areas dry and clean at most times. At this point, I would suggest that you ask your physician's supervision in applying the cream as the cream may be abrasive and may involve normal skin.

To avoid infection, you may apply antibacterial cream topically over the affected areas after washing with a mild cleanser. If the bumps are numerous and there seems to be no improvement, I would suggest that you ask your doctor to apply this for you.

Also just to clarify the bumps are close enough to where i only needed to hit one spot and i touch the freeze away to it about 5-6 times. I am hoping the redness will go away within the next week but i want to take right measures to avoid a scar the bumps are almost unnoticeable but the red spot is about the size of a pencil erasure so it is much more noticeable.
