Severe dry skin on eyelids and under eyes

Hello,

About a month ago I developed severe, severe dry skin on my eyelid in the area that I apply eyeliner and on the outer area under my eyes.  I feel that it may have been a result of the makeup remover wipes that Iwas using, although they said that they were hypoallergenic.  I used a night cream on the area both day and night and it helped to a certain degree and i stopped using the facial wipes.  Well the other day I used one of the wipes to touch up my makeup because they're easier than what I use to completely take off my makeup and the next morning my entire upper eyelid was swollen and then underneath the eye became swollen.  Now both areas are also severly dry again, worse than last time.  I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good eye makeup removers that don't require a lot of extra fuss(the wipes really were ideal, i was using some by Ponds) and also if anyone has any suggestions for a really good moisturizer for the eye area that won't cost me a small fortune.  I'm only 27 and it's so dry that it's causing severe wrinkles under my eyes and I'm looking significantly older than my age.  Also if anyone knows what this is and if you think it is a reaction to the wipes or something else would be great.  Thank you!!

I am 37 and have dark circles and dry skin under and over the eyes.  I found a product called Lacrilube, which has mineral oil in it, that I use when I have times of really dry eyes, then at night I use Clinique's All about Eyes to moisturize and during the day a cream from Clinique for dark circles.  It seems to do okay for now, but I'm not sure it's really moisturizing like I need it to prevent that dryness.  I just started trying the entire facial cleansing line from Clinique and I've always been using their eye products.  Rika

Hi. I would switch to wipes and moisturiser by Eucerin. They are available in drugstores and on line. Eucerin's website will also tell you where you can find a local stockist in your area. Throw the other wipes away, allergic reactions can be very uncomfortable especially in such a sensitive area. The terms "hypoallergenic" and "dermatologist approved" are used a lot on products but this does not mean they are safe for reactive skin. Loiloi x
