Skin rash.

I have a dark skin. Sometime recently I noticed having some rash in left inner thigh around the region, where my undies elastics are. It used to burn sometimes when I was walking.

I used some creams in this case in nights and didnt use underwear while in sleep.

Of late I am noticing that the region is showing me a light colored patch. The patch has a rough texture in comparision of the surrounding skin. And upon rubbing the region, some layers of skin (dead skin, rough like big flakes of dandruff) also come off.

I am quite worried about this. Can somebody help?
I use Jockey cotton undies

thanks for the reply Bhumika :)

i didnt have any allergies in past. i live in calcutta and yes it is very sweaty. but i guess it happened in winters when i didnt sweat at all. i did not do any manual labor also, except working out in gym for an hour almost daily, but that happened with proper apparel and care from sweat etc.

the shape of the patch is very irregular, but mostly oval...

i will go by your suggestions. thanks again :)

Hi,

Do you live/work in a tropical climate or do you sweat a lot or do manual labor? Hav you noticed the shape of this lesion? Have you had any allergies earlier?

There could be two possibilities here with markedly different treatments. This could be a fungal patch or an episode of contact dermatitis. A dermatologist would be able to identify and giv you the appropriate treatment. Meanwhile, you should try to wear very lose undergarments which do not touch the area at all. further maintain hygiene at the site, try not too itch and if necessary take some OTC pain killers. It is also important to keep the area moist as dryness promotes itching.

Let us know what your doctor tells you and if you have any other questions.

Regards.
