Sticky Skin

I desperately need HELP!  I have a horrible skin condition.  My skin is sticky all over and there is a waxy sort of film.  My hands and feet are the worst.  It feels like soda or honey is coating my hands and feet, with a lighter feeling on the rest of my body.  My socks stick to the bottoms of my feet.  It is worse after showering, washing hands etc. I use a green kitchen scrubber on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet but it doesn't get the film off.  My skin does not absorb anything; water, lotions.  Soap seems to not wash this off my skin yet at the same time seems to stick to the film.  My hair is also affected.  It does not absorb anything, the soap seems to stick to it and not rinse off.  Same with conditioner.  And my hair is either falling out or breaking off, I'm not sure which.  I also have a coating on my toungue.  I can't taste properly.  Everything tastes bitter.  And I constantly have a bitter taste.

It began about eight months ago and has gotten progressively worse.

I also have a fingernail and toenail fungus.  I am afraid that the fungus has moved to my skin.

I went to the dermatologist for the first time yesterday and she merely gave me a prescription lotion for extremely dry skin.  This actually made the stickyness worse.  I applied it to my hands and it just sat on top of this film and became even more sticky.  I washed it off, which took two rounds of washing, and the stickyness was worse.

I feel like this sounds crazy.  It is debilitating.  I find it difficult to do much of anything because I stick to anything I touch.  And I certainly don't want to pass this along to anyone else.

Has anyone else had this?

It sounds like Acquired Cutaneous Adherence, or sticky skin syndrome, and it's quite rare.  It's often caused by a medication, but not always, and it's not progressive, but is troublesome.   Usually, when the skin is completely dry it's not sticky, but that doesn't seem to be the case with you, so it may not be this.    You can find a discussion of this at...

http://www.empowher.com/community/ask/any-help-skin-gets-sticky-when-it-gets-wet

and may be able to get a better answer.

Not rare if you have mold.  Rubbing alcohol and applying bath or baby powder is a palliative.  The body becomes dehydrated by internal mold infection, accompanied by dry mouth nose, thirst and frequent urination, (and many other bothersome, alarming and sometimes painful symptoms),  This internal dryness causes your sweat  and sebum to become unctuous and "sticky".  Possibly also normal bodily secretions are disrupted by erosion of the nervous system by mold

Thanks.

Been to that site and just about every other site I can pull up on "sticky skin".  Haven't found anything that will help.  I was hoping someone else had this and found out what it was and how to make it stop.

I will be calling the dermatologist on Monday and going back.  Hopefull I will find some relief soon.

Thanks again.

All the symptoms you describe I have too.

It is all caused by illness caused by exposure to toxic mold.

i have mold...and many different symptoms, but not this one!  be careful with tee tree oil.  the skin will get dry and peel when applied directly.  soak with it in a bath too.
Sticky gooey skin, hair that sticks together, bitter taste in mouth, fingernail and/or toenail fungus.  MOLD illness, mold exposure.  After bath, you are drying with moldy towels probably however clean they may smell or feel.  Hence you feel worse.  I hope you have moved out of your house by now, or discovered source of mold and had successful remediation, which often is not enough to make your house safe to live in.  You may have reached your threshold for mold tolerance.

Can you say more about your reasons for saying that - did you have it, did this cure it, anything else?

is this fungal candida coming from inside you or is it from acutal dermal contact that this stickiness happens?

how did you find out the cause?  did a doctor able to diagnose or did you figure it out yourself or through some other reading or research?

thanks

YeH -  Javel seems to be the solution :

I have been struggling with that for 1 1/2 month -
I cought it in trying shoes at store - for the 3rd time in 20 years.

2 previous times I used apple cider vinagre and after rinse with baking soda in warm water and showered the feet after -
it worked - but I had to throw away a few pair of shoes -

This time it started first to feet than to hands than to face and arms -
I tried all previous things - nothing worked -
I lost pairs of shoes -

As I walked bare foot in my place & the floor became sticky too where it was in wood -  I washed with vinagre - but did not do anything.

2 days ago - I said that's It ! -  I soak my feet in a bucket of warm water with 1/4 cup of soft javel - for 25 minutes -
and rinsed -  Great - Dry Feet since -

After I soaked my hands too - and apply same in my face - watching not to put any in eyes area -
I washed all my floors with more javel than for the body -
And clean all towels, clothes, carpets and shoes with same solution -

I am no more sticking so far from any part of my body - My floors are OK too.

Every time I cought that, it was trying shoes at store -
So Next Time:

When I returned from store for shoes - I will take a javel feet bath and clean my shoes entering my house -

I normally suffer from TOC - wondering if there is still finger prints left in my hands :-)

I have a very similar condition for past 3 years. When I substituted bar soap  with 'showergel' (Nivea men's and others),  the stickiness which used to remain until skin dried,  totally disappeared. Once in a while I try washing face with soap to check if condition still persisted. It unfortunately still does. One intriguing thing is,  this stickiness happens not just with bar soap but also using face wash but again not with showergel. Am now interested in composition/ingredients used between soaps and showergels to try to narrow down what causes this stickiness.

Could be the soap shower gel has more glycerin, the film maybe a fungus , I've been dealing with this skin condition for almost a year, it looks like I'm almost rid of it .. Using  sea salt when showering scrub with washcloth ,    do not bath in the tub . Use antifungal cream on skin or sores I've  used baking soda to wash mouth out twice daily then Apple cider vinegar( raw organic) 1tablespoon daily, fights infection .. I've had it in my eyes and now it's gone thank goodness

Good luck

My sticky skin problem covered my whole body and was continuous, i.e. 24/7.  A dermatologist recommended using Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash. It worked like magic. I believe it is the Salicylic Acid that solved the problem.

I am glad to hear I'm not alone. My sticky skin started with just my hands about 6 months ago but now I feel it on my arms and the last 2 days it feels sticky around my mouth. It's scary and embarrassing. I've been wondering if it was a mold issue because our front-loading washer has mold issues and I'm the main one that does the laundry. I have tried tea tree oil under gloves at night but it hasn't helped. I'm going to try the Neutrogena body wash you mentioned since that can be used over the entire body. Thank you everyone for being open enough to post possible solutions and talk about this problem.

Everyone stop!!!   Just completely stop I have sticky skin syndrome and that is linked to mold,. I know for certain when 100%  and I have proof, so glad I found this website tonight and that others are going throufth this. I'm sitting in my car scrubbing my beard and skin raw with  cotton swabs and alcohol.
This has been consuming my life for the last two years it's killing me and it killed my dog. I knew that apartment is killing us it was contaminated with mold even after they said they repaired it. I complained for your street that mold was growing in the kitchen cabinets under the sink management denied it and sent maintenance just wipe it down with bleach  but it would only grow back.
So within the two-year timeframe I've been to multiple emergency rooms doctors dermatologist with no help and they're just concerned looks accusing me of being on drugs. I thought's friends that would believe me I've wiiped all of my money out trying to save the dog. My job is let me go I'm almost in the streets. I'll because I've been breathingin the forms of black veiny mold green fuzzy mold yellow story mold.  The apartment had a leak in the ceiling slow leak that's living in California the mold was growing in the cabinets on utensils.  they said they cleaned it sealed it off in the wall that's not true tough conditions related to this. The carpet will turn waxy Like an oil slick came over it.
Only New York and California recognize that Molde is deadly  people and clearly this forum of people chatting right now all have been exposed to mold even if they haven't   Realized or discovered it yet. I've lost everything  but most of all is that I lost my beloved dog Liam because he was terribly sick and exposed to it more than I was I spent everything I owned on vet bills and I still lost him.  I'm so ******* angry right now because I complained complained nothing was done for over year about it . Go search for places for mood  people that it's ******* killing us.

I think you are exactly right and doctors are not worth a **** (excuse my swearing) but its true !  I know exactly when i get sticky hands and feet , cant wash it off no mattet what and i do believ its mold related . I even get the film over my eyes and the surface of
My skin feels like its on fire !!  Its MOLD . I havent found the actual source cuz i dont jave it in
My house only when i am close by in other peoples places that have mold i become hypersensitive . Hot flashes , sticky coated skin , coated eyes , and fatigue . And forget about tryin to get a medical doctor to help cuz are useless ignorant boneheads . They dont care . They want to diagnose something that theres a PILL for . Glorified drug reps . Its a damn shame tho that nobody takes us seriously . They just dont understand how annoying it is !!!
This is my exact story, my dog suffered for two years and just passed. Apartments evicted me for complaining to city and state, citing I damaged the air handler by altering the state of the drain pan... I had cleaned it. I was the only one to get evicted that day, with CDC's halt on evictions. My son was diagnosed with rhinitis and asthma during my lease there. His mother started keeping him from me because of it. It's been four months since I've been able to have him on my time, everything in storage is ruined and my car that I'm living out of it covered in it. Tree oil was the best treatment for me so far, but it goes so quickly. Been unable to control it and it's slowly killing me and my bank account.

This may be seborrheic dermatitis, which does have a yeast connection.  I've had similar issues.  My derm took a biopsy and that was her diagnosis.  Hair loss and scalp flaking are common even with sticky or oily hair.  Talk to your dermatologist or research online, there are treatment options.  I know this is an old post but others may find it with an Internet search.  Good luck and don't be disheartened.

It's an absobic acid defiency or vitamin C deficiency, called scurvy
. The cure 2000 mg of vitamin c 3 times a day for a month. U will notice a difference in a matter of days.. I also soaked in vitamin c. All my hair , eyelashes, eyebrows even pubic hair came out.I had 7 eye surgeries, 2 nose surgeries, the and an abundance of dental work.. it was on my teeth and even in my ears and navel. I will warn you, you have no idea how bad it is until it starts to go away..

I have only recently been bothered by waxy hands. I notice it in the shower before I wash. They feel sticky/waxy and the water repels off them, Then after I wash, it disappears.  Another website says it is too much sugar in the body and prediabetic. This makes sense with all the mold & candida comments, as sugar feeds mold. My son, when he was little had issues.. waxy grey scales that appeared in his hair and chronic athletes foot. Head & Shoulders works for keeping hair under control. No prescription lotions worked for erasing the foot problem. We did experiment with eating no sugar or carbs for 2 weeks. His foot fungus cleared up perfectly. It did return, but after research, I am convinced that to rid your body of fungus, the treatment must last for 4-6 weeks, just like the lotion applications would, if you picked the fungus up and it was topical only. In our case, it has gotten into our system. My son had to wait until he was 16 to take the anti-fungal pill, because it is not safe for your kidneys, but it did work = foot fungus gone.
Back to my waxy hands. I have taken on drinking fresh squeezed lemon juice in warm water every morning. I thought maybe this had some part in the cause of my problem. I am perplexed by the Vitamin C fix, as this would  seem the opposite to me. I am not aware of mold in my home, but I know it can lurk behind walls. We have had moldy hose smells coming out of some of our water lines, so who the hell knows! May God bless us all and grace us with healing! I also appreciate people sharing as they look for answers. I also did have bad acne as a teen and used Accutane. I found that washing my face with warm water, scrubbing gently with wash cloth and using salicyclic acid face wash 2 times per day works pretty darn great for keeping face skin clear. My teenage daughter just came downstairs now and said she just started having sticky waxy hands in the same way I described, just until she washes her hair.. she says she has had this for 1 week now. I also have this problem but my feet and hands are sticky and wet but there's a filf flying out of my hands and feet .  I noticed it when something like fiber hair was hitting my face and going into my eyes. Also have fungus on feet and hands but now it's all over my body I almost forgot a black hair like with no roots coming out of nails. However, Someone please tell me how I stop the the spray fiber from spraying out.  This is crazy and yes I was also told I was losing my mind and that they worry about me.  I don't believe my was caused by mold it started by catching the fungus from someone else then it stared oozing sticky and flying fiber.  So please tell how do I stop it from oozing spraying out

Hey guys me and my family have been struggleing with the same symptoms as deb since june 2016.. i have been scouring the web and visited over 5 docs trying to get answers..this past summer we did start to get better but we were trying so many things we cannot pin point what helped .our money is exausted so we cannot afford to do everything again,so after tons of research and reading all comments on this.this is what i want to try for my family..we are going to pray 3 days a week for everone suffering and thank god for what we do have.also we are going to  buy water and shower filters and drink nothing but water .then Buy tri salts from amazon and take 1tsp morning and night in 8 or 4oz of water  because this is alkanizing but only twice per day because this is 12ph and our bodies cannot live in 12ph .clean our diet up completly nothing out nothing procesed and cut back on meat consumption and dairy products.get a good probiotic for all, vitamin D and vitamin C.then we will do the lemon vinegar soaks and another soak with 1 cup mustard seed per bath..wash everything in our house and vaccume everything buy new pillows and cover them with a protective cover .and use coconut oil to moisturize our bodies.i also bought a juicer and plan to look up juices for hair skin and nails and drink fresh juice everyday.. i know this sounds like so much but we are willing to try anything ..but im not sure what shampoo or soap to use so just going to try to find something natural without parabens or sulfates.. lastly we are going to find a naturopath to work with us and keep going to our conventional docs to try and rule out fungal bacterial or hormonal problems ..whatever this is stress makes it worse!!!. After 5 docs my whole family have been diagnosed with seborheic dermatitis, alopecia, and blepharitis..we are not all related by blood either all have seen different docs and they say none of this is contagious its gentics well we dont all have the same genetics  so i do not buy this diagnosis.try to be strong people and know that god counts ur tears and u do matter.None of us are delusional either they are!!!! there will come a day when we get answers .

can you share with us how you are doing? i am going through the same struggle and hoping and praying for some answers too.
Any resolve? I just started experiencing this!
no resolve so far.. it gets better then worse again .we have only started doing some of the things in my previous post . I feel if we can go totally plant based and get our lymphatic system moving and get our bodies sweating right it will do a lot to help with this ... but the transiton has been hard for my family so far we eat way to much diary ... I went to hair place and thought I was seeing a specialist what a scam . as soon as we get the money to travel I will got to tricology clinic and she if they can give any insight. until then just have faith try to live as normally as we can ,keep searching for answers and treat any infections as they come and continue to give all these docs our money maybe one will listen as some point
Chloridextine is great for baths but you have to look into demodex mites. This is the cause and we all have them all humans and animals have them. It is only when you are overloaded is when you notice. The saliva and feces is what is the sticky stuff on the skin
