Strange tiny bumps...

Good evening Doctor,

I am a 21-yr-old male. I recently became very concerned 3 days ago when I noticed some irritation on my penis. I found 2 small "rough" patches, about 1-2cm away from each other on the shaft of my penis. I didn't think much of it at first, but then realized, after very close examination, that there were very many small, black dots. At a glance, you certainly can't see them. But when you stretch the skin a bit, you can see the cropping of black dots and rough skin. When I rub my finger over these two areas, you can feel almost a "scratchy" type of feeling. It's not just an over-examination, there is definitely something there.

I really have no idea what this could be -- I know this doesn't sound like a classic presentation of HSV2 -- but could it be? I appreciate any guidance or advise here.

Thanks very much -

I couldnt figure out how to post my own topic so here is my question. I developed a rash 5 days ago. It has spread every day since. It started on my sides and spread up to my armpits and down to my knees and has thickened. It is raised red bumps and they are very ithcy. Went to the doctors and they said it was from a virus but they never did any tests or anything....I dont feel very comfortable with what they said because is isnt getting any better it is just spreading and itching worse. If it is a viral rash how long do these last and why is it getting worse??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

Description you provided does not sound like clinical manifestation of genital HSV infection, but it could be presentation of quite a few other skin diseases. There is no reason to worry now, but evaluation by a dermatologist is recommended. Further diagnostics may be needed (e.g., microbiology, histopathology).

Wishing You Optimal Health,
