Tapering off locoid lipocream/redness-flushed face

I was prescribed locoid lipocream for mild dermatitis on my face.  I was on it for 34 days and now am tapering off of it.  I have not used the cream for 2 days but last night my face was a little flushed.  I do not have rosacea, but is redness after stopping a topical steroid cream normal?

I plan to use it every 3 days, then every 4, every 5 and then stop. Does that sound like a good tapering schedule or should I just stop cold turkey?  I do know that topical steroids used for a prolonged period of time is not good.  I do not have any bumps, just some mild redness.  I look perfectly normal now, the redness just flares up from time to time.  I am also using elidel cream to help with the withdrawal.

Is there anything else that I can do to help this process along?  What is causing the redness on face?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

If I were you I would alternate with the moisturizer for a couple of days and then totally withdraw steroid.

Do you think I should taper off of just stop it cold turkey?  I am afraid that if I stop it abruptly then the redness will flare up.

Thanks

Quite so. Even the mildest steroid cremes get absorbed on the face faster than the rest of the body.Perhaps he/she would use glycerine containing moisturizers.
Best wishes.

maatson,

Thanks for the message.  Can you get that after a month of being on the cream?  Do you know what kind of moisturizer creams my doctor would use?  I guess I should get in touch with him.

Thanks!
