Uneven color of breast

I am a 48 year old female with uneven aoreolas. The color seems to spread unevenly around the breast. close to the nipple in some areas and spread out further out in others. It has been like this for awhile like an uneven overgrowth, going up and down and not evenly around the nipple. Should I follow up with a doctor and if so what kind?

Hi I am a 17 year old female and I have itchiness on both of my areolas its dry and scaly. The colour on the outer areola is spreading. I also have a lump in the right breast. Its a very tingling sensation and sometimes does seem to burn... none of the skin care creams work..what should i do? Or what can this be?

Hi there!
The normal color of the areola may range from pale yellow pink to dark brown or even black. There are 4 small openings in the areola which are sebaceous glands also known as Montgomery's glands which are raised above the surface of the areola. A person’s areolae may also change color over time due to hormonal changes caused by menstruation, aging and certain medications etc. There are  a few serious conditions like Paget’s disease which involves the nipples and the areola .It causes itching, tingling, or redness in the nipple and/or areola, flattened npples, discharge from nipples etc.Since you do not have any of this symptom it is unlikely that you have this condition. It is best to get it examined by a gynecologist and get your doubts clarified. I do hope it helps.
Take care and regards!
