Hi I've been having wat my doctor says is urticaria for over 2 week's now but I've been looking on internet at parasites that can cause this skin flare up too. I'm going to see my GP tomoz maybe get a test done see if it is that that's causing me this rash and itching .. I've had different antihistamines and also steroids but it's still with me I can't stress how much this has affected my life already I can't even go bk to work till it's cleared up but it seems it's not going any where at the moment ... hopefully I get answers and a test for parasites and I can carry on with an itch rash free life
My father-in-law, aged 70 suffered a similar rash. Started off like little red bumps, subsequently looked like he'd been scalded with boiling water, follwoing that emerged red welts and after that egg sized blisters of fluid,(bulous pemphigoid). His doctor failed to diagnose the problem til it's tertiary phase. Turns out that the heart medication my father-in-law was taking was causing an allergic reaction resulting in this rash. Very many medications can cause an allergic reaction resulting in a rash, but the good news is that, in many cases, there is an alternative medication that can be switched to. Because the reaction to the meds is an allergic one, this is why taking an anti-histamine can help. This however is masking the problem by dealing with the symptom and not with the cause. A better plan might to to see your doctor and to request a change of meds.
I have terrible itching, seemly dry calves. I soak them with lotion and Aquaphor. Neither help. I am 63, but have had this for years. It seems to be a bit worse in the winter, but also worse with age. It itches and is painful. I scratch until I have welts and bleedig. It keeps me from sleeping or enjoying anything, it it unbareable!!! It is confined only to my calves. This has gotten to be constant to the point of not being able to enjoy doing anything!
What can I use to make thus go away. They seem dry, by I soak them in lotions that "relieves dry skin, all day moisturizer, dermatologist tested, Frank free, with colloidal oatmeal.I also put a lot of Aquaphor, I thoroughly rub bth of these in, two, three and four times a day. I have tried every lotion that says for extremely dry skin, bUt I don't know if that is the problem. It isn't red, until I continuously scratch them so hard. I do have dry skin, but not to the point that moisturizer or lotion does not help. My calves do not flak off dry skin, just horrible itching that nothing I have tried helps a bit. HELP...what is this???W hat will help???
I have been having this exact same thing for about two weeks now. Going to see a derm in two weeks. Desperate for answers.

Any answers to my previous query?
I had been to the best dermatologist in my city last week(1 night after a huge blowout of rashes all over my body).. He couldn't confirm anything..
Gave me some heavy Anti Histamines and asked me to take for 10 days. The same evening, when the rashes were just about coming back again, took the dosage.. Went away in 15 mins.. Since then, it has NEVER come back.. Have completed 10 days of dosage and am not getting the rashes any more.
Should I have any more concerns?
PS: When I went to see him, I took the HIV(AG+AB) ELISA Test, Anti-HCV Test, HbsAg Test and VDRL Test. All came back negative. Wanted to rule out these serious STDs.

I have been dealing with something similar...flairs up in the night and if chilly....but I had it soo bad three day burst of prednisone knocked it out for a while...I have had adrenal fatigue, and possible exposure to environmental chemicals, fungus (breathing in)...scabies? trying to come back and it seems that caffeine or too much acid causing foods thanks for tha scaabies suggestion
Hello,
In addition to the above mentioned possibilities, get scabies also ruled out. It is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin. Diagnosis of scabies is made by scraping the skin and viewing the material under a microscope to see the characteristic mite or eggs.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
