White bulb on root of mustache hair causing irritation
I, occasionally, have an itchy, irritable sensation at the base of my skin where my mustache is growing from. The sensation feels like it could be a pimple or an ingrown
hair, but, there is never a bump that would suggest those causes. I, then, pull the hairs out around the irritable area and each hair comes out with a white, hard bulb attached to the root. Then, a few hours later, the skin develops a sore and scabs over eventually. This happens, infrequently, but, often enough to take notice and I've always wondered what it was. I know what ingrown
hairs and pimples are and these are not that. Does anyone know what it could be as I have found similar postings about this case on the internet but, usually, a doctor is dissmissive blaming it on OCD
hair or folliculitis. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. The condition may occur anywhere on the skin.
If folliculitis occurs then topical and oral antibiotics are needed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
