White spots on Sons knees and now feet

My son is 12 years old.  Nearly 8 months ago I noticed that his skin pigment on his knees is turning white.  He is white, but I mean like real white.  The white marks are large not small.  The doctor looked at them and asked what it was?  hmmmmmm shouldn't he be telling me what it is?  Anyway, I jsut noticed the other day he now is getting them on the top of his feet above the ankle area.  He does not like to eat like he used too.  I am assuming he is going througha growing spurt, but we do go out to eat more often than eating at home.  I am wondering, if it is a lack of vitamins.  He used to love to eat vegitables and fruit but now it's like pulling teeth to get him to eat.  I am sure he is going through a hormonal change as well but I am worried about it.  He is not getting it anywhere else just his knees and now feet.  What could it be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms the possibility of vitiligo needs to be ruled out. It is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on the skin in different parts of the body. Diagnosis can be confirmed by external examination, blood tests to check skin cell count  for melanocytes and biopsy of the skin patches.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
