blister nightmare!

I developed numerous, one by one at first, massive blisters inside of my hands. This covers not only my palms, but on & in between my fingers. I take 2 blood pressure meds, one is a diuretic. A problem developed about 3 wks ago when my Dr. said my potassium was low & she was switching me to a new diuretic med. & have me take potassium supp. for 3 days. When I went back she said looks like I've had a bad allergic reaction. Now I'm using a cream twice a day that doesn't seem to be working very well. ( I started 3 days ago) These blisters are so bad I can't do anything any more for myself. Sometimes the itching drivs me nuts!! Should I be very concerned or just calm down & use the cream for 2 wks?

Hello,
These itchy blisters on the palms can be due to contact dermatitis or pompholyx. Pompholyx is also called dyshidrotic eczema. It is characterized by a sudden onset of many deep-seated pruritic, clear vesicles which itch and then peel off. As a result the skin may also fissure.
Apply some calamine lotion on the affected area and keep the area well moisturized. Use only thin applications of moisturizer ointments as excessive amounts of ointment may restrict breathing of the skin and aggravate the condition.

Topical steroids can be applied but they are available under prescription. Moreover to prevent infection, topical antibiotics may be needed. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.

Hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Thank you doctor. I didn't understand all of your answer, but I understand enough to know what I should do next, go to a dermatologist. Apparantly, this is beyond my doctor's expertise. By the way, the topic steroid cream she prescribed worked well on the previous blisters but I'm still getting NEW blisters, one by one. I  used up 2 tubes & the dr. approved refill for only one more when I told her I was getting new outbreaks. She wants me to come in for another bloodwork but I want a dermatology exam next.  Thanks, I'll be in touch.
