adult feet peeling

i am a 46 yr old female from Frankfort,Ky  Recently, i am having trouble with the bottom of my feet.  They are very dry and have started peeling lilke they were sun burned.  i have not been out in the sun since it is winter here and very cold.  The skin comes off in large amounts at a time.  It is exactly like peeling your stomach or back when you get sunburned, except it is my feet.  They do not itch or have no fungus or don't look different except they seem to have callouses where they peel off.   The skin is very thick when i peel it off.  Does anyone else have anything similiar to this?  I am worried because a nurse told me it was due to some type of toxins in my body.  He also said i need to figure out what would be putting these toxins there.  he also mentioned, it could be from taking too many ibuprofen since i do take alot of them due to my severe back pain.

This discussion is related to 3yr female, hands and feet peeling.

I looked up the MSDS for ibprofin and I would certainly avoid it myself.

It has some strong BUTYL in it's compound:

General
Synonyms: alpha-methyl-4-(2-methylpropyl)benzeneacetic acid, p-isobutylhyudratropic acid, 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-propionic acid, 4-isobutyl-alpha-methylphenylacetic acid
Use:
Molecular formula: (CH3)2CHCH2C6H4CH(CH3)COOH
CAS No: 15687-27-1
EC No: 239-784-6

Molecular formula for 2-butoxyethanol (Ethylene Glycol MonoBUTYL Ether is:
C6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH

and 2(2-butoxyethanol) formula is:
C8H18O3 / CH2(CH2)3OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OHDGME

My husband was diagnosed with PTSD/OCD..IU...and Depression, all service connected. The stressors were from being raped for 6 months by Sergeant Major Brodie, and two tours in Viet Nam... This led to alcoholism and suicide attempts (3), and daily thoughts of suicide. Extremely uncontrollable high blood pressure. He was being medicated through the VA and was 100% disabled for all these stressors. Medication had warnings that they could cause massive heart attacks and/or convulsions.

The statement is from a judge to me, in a video conference in Washington DC, was precisely this.... He wants only a opinion from a medical Dr. if these stressors could cause a massive heart attack, Only an opinion.... Not from my husbands medical history, just an opinion.. The judge repeated this several times.

I would appreciate any opinion as to whether this could happen.

Thank you very much..

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Try to avoid taking too much ibuprofen. Warm compress may provide some relief with the pain. Peeling feet may be due to an infection, eczema or even psoriasis. However, I would recommend that you have this evaluated further for proper diagnosis. Direct clinical examination is important to determine the diagnosis. The presence of infection as in fungal infection, may lead to disruption of the integrity of the skin, leading to dead skins peeling  away.  Definite diagnosis of fungal infection is through skin scrapings that are evaluated under the microscope.   If this is  the case, antifungal medications may help. Otherwise, further tests may be done to determine the underlying cause.

Take care and keep us posted.

I would be concerned about multiple exposures (for back pain and for skin peeling) to some type of glycol butyl ether.  The one I have looked into is Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether or 2-butoxyethanol.  It can be in many cleaning products.  It can be an inert ingredient in Accutane or in ibuprofen.  Accutane does have in inert butylated ingredient and it is being named in lawsuits for Crohn's.  But it could cause any autoimmune issue.

What do you clean your shower with?  I wanted to know what was in Arm 'n Hammer Clean Shower and after waiting 10 days to get a Material Safety Data Sheet ... found no ingredients disclosed, but did find these warnings  (an indication there IS something hazardous there)

must have ventilation .. EYE PROTECTION (wear splash-proof chemical safety goggles) & PROTECTIVE GLOVES  (Impervious, rubber or neoprene, gloves) OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT (Wear impervious protective clothing; eyewash facility is recommended in work area)

So, if this chemical is in your shower cleaning product, and you stand in it while taking a shower ... maybe?

Or any exposure to this chemical in a variety of ways could cause this.  I think it is some type of autoimmune issue.

Back pain might be an indication of some type of degenerative disc disease which would be an autoimmune issue for those with CFIDS, CFS, FM.  If so, very serious fatigue coupled with high white blood cell counts (an anemia sign in this group) could cause DDD.
