allergic rash

I am a 55% electrical burn, which happened over 10 years ago. It goes from my waist to my neck including all of my arms. I have skin harvested from my thighs many times. a few months ago a rash started developing in localized areas. A ferw spots on my arms and thishs and chest. I thought it was bed bugs, scabies psriosis everything really. Today i woke up to itchy rash just on my thighs where the skin was harvested. i don't know if its allergic reaction to beer, chocolate or what. I took prednisone and everything cleared up accompanied with hydrocortisone cream. any ideas?

Hello,
If it was a fungal infection then it would not have benefitted from prednisolone. It is a steroid and may worsen the condition if it was a fungal infection. Hives is an important possibility and for confirming the diagnosis please get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

I am wondering if it isn't a fungus of some sort. The rash went away with the prednisone but now it is back and in the very same localized spots.

Hello,
From the symptoms it can be hives or allergic reaction. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours or days.

Apply calamine lotion and mild steroid cream and take some oral antihistaminic like Benadryl. If the symptoms persist then please get it seen from a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
