global pruritis

Because itching seems to come on in waves, arbitrarily with no logical trigger or reason, like something one might be allergic to, and when there is no rash or visible evidence of eczema, why is it that by simply stressing the body or redirecting one's full intent in an other direction, including a shower scalding in hot water if nothing else, the itching subsides almost totally for the next 10-15 hours?

Thanks for the comment. There doesn't seem to be a test even offered for this problem, yet. I've been concerned about liver disease, but then I don't have any symptoms of anything remotely connected to it.

I am wondering if it possibly could be connected to sinuses?

What sort of tests would you recommend to nail down the cause?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Many conditions cause itchy skin as well. Skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods  can cause itchy skin.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
