atrosphy from topical steriods

atrosphy from topical steriods

My skin under my forearms are losser and crinklely after being treated with topical steriods for LICHEN PLANUS. Will my skin return to its toneness eventually?  BTW...I'm fit from working out and bellydancing for years and NEVER had any loss skin anywhere on my body before.

Hello,
Skin atrophy is a common side effect of topical and oral steroids. Stop using the steroids and consult a doctor to get it evaluated because if prolonged used of a strong topical steroid in a thin occluded skin area is suspected, the steroid induced changes might not totally be reversible.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Would you know of a doctor in the San Francisco Bay Area (if not, then elswhere) who is an expert on Steroid Atrophy?

In 2006 a doctor gave me Lotrisone for a rash on my testicles and told me to use it for 2 weeks.  By day 7 my testicles were bright red and burning.  I called his office and another doctor was there that day and I explained my problem.  He said "I'm not concerned".  He said I could still use it til my appointment with the other doctor 3 days from then.  Well, I ended up in the Emergency room.  They told me I had had a reaction to the powerful steroid in the cream.  It's 2011 and I'm in a living Hell I can't get out of.  My testicles have been mutilated and I need to find a doctor who can give me a precise assessment and explanation of what exactly has occurred here, because I have been to like 10 doctors and none of them have been able to.  All they keep saying is that Lotrisone doesn't cause Skin Atrophy.  I feel like it's a freaking conspiracy, like I'm in the movie COMA.

If you know anyone who is an expert on this, please let me know because I'm at my wits end.
