red rash around penis head.

hey,

i am uncircumcised and i have a rash around the head of my penis. it doesn't hurt or it and the rash isn't raised off of the skin. i'm unsure what it is, so i was wondering if you guys knew. another problem i have is around the tip of my penis i have these little red dots. they're not bumps (raised off skin) but they're there.

anyway, i know the description is vague, but i don't know how else to describe it. i also wanted to ask about some cream i have. i recently went to the doctor to get some cream for poison oak (it's not poison oak on my penis) and i was given some triamcinolone cream. would that be safe to put on my penis and see if it clears up the rash?

thanks

Thank you for the response, Dr. Santos.

As for other symptoms, I don't know of any. It does not itch, burn, excrete anything, or any other symptoms. In all honesty, if I couldn't see it, then I wouldn't even know it was there.

It's been there for awhile now, and I've since changed the body wash that I use, so I don't know if it could be that. The same for my detergents that I use. Other than that, I don't know of anything else that it could be.

I'm tempted to just post a picture to get a better evaluation. I don't really want to go to the doctor yet. It's a school clinic and that just seems embarrassing.

Any other ideas from the description I've given or should I just post a picture?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? What other symptoms are present? The rash could be due to irritation, allergic reaction, infection as well as skin issues such as dermatitis or eczema. With irritation or allergy from soap, detergent and other chemicals, the rash usually resolve after the trigger is removed. However, if it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor or dermatologist for proper evaluation. Try also not to put any medication with out talking to your doctor first. Keep the head or area clean and dry also. Take care and do keep us posted.
