cat cut my nose worried about scar

hi dr This past friday night I was playing with my cat and for some reason she got mad cause i was petting her and cut my nose a 2 inch long cut that was bleeding pretty bad after her nail went in my nose.Its not 2 days later and im very worried im going to have an ugly 2 inch long cut on my nose fron my cat.there really isnt much of a scab its just red and where her claw went in the skin is pinkish.i know there all kinda of scar stuff you can but but how long should i wait before using anything like mederma or scargaurd?what one is better?do you think this will heal without a scar im not really sure what to do it looks so bad and its right in the middle of my nose.what about vitamin e soft gels break them open and put on a cut would this help at all?anyway please let me know what i should do i called my derm but he cant see me for a few days im very worried of a bad scar on my poor nose .thanks dr for you help

Marks like this generally take several weeks for the redness to go away.  I suggest you apply Mederma to it now, as that may help.  Redness doesn't equal permanent scarring.  Superficial scratches generally don't scar permanently.  You shouldn't be sad to see no scab--that's a good sign, so you should be happy about that.

I forgot to also say i been keeping neosporin on the 2 inch long nail cat cut since this happend on friday june 26.I cleaned the cut with peroxide after the cat cut me.how long should i keeo the neosporin on there?it doesnt bleed anymore.and im sad to say i dont see any scab.its so embarrassing I hope i dont need plastic surgery for this.
