chest rash

For about two weeks know I got this rash that at the beginning was about two thumbs large and now grew to the size that can be seen in the attached picture.

May I mention that I did take a long 5 hour cycle trip while being exposed in the sun and got this sun burn, but the rash did not start itching straight away.

From the research I did, there is a possibility of this being a poison ivy rash. Is it?

The rash area on the skin now becomes less sensitive upon touch. the itchyness is felt more after a shower or while sweating.
Can anybody give me a hint at what this might be? Have you encountered similar symptoms?

thanks in advance.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms it can be hives or an allergic reaction. You can take non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine or Loratadine(Claritin. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms but they are available under prescription. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. Also apply calamine lotion and a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash.

If the symptoms persist then a clinical evaluation by a dermatologist is desirable.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

the condition is getting worse now by having the skin peeling in that area and it becomes more and more itchier.
