cold sore or pimple?

Last week I had two spots appear on my upper lip. My lip felt tingly and inflammed. One spot was definitely a tiny little white head which I popped and it cleared almost immediately. The other was sore and grew bigger in size. The red spot got to tsize of an eraser. The tingling and tightness of the skin was felt due tothe inflamation of the spot. I was thinking it was herpes however I decided to squeeze it on about day 5 and even though there was no whitehead on the surface a good amount of puss came out then it bleed along with some clear fluid. Since I squeezed this it has started to heal. The healing never had a dark scab on it but there are layers of skin shedding off.

My understanding is that herpes would not have puss but clear fluid only. I have been tested for HSV1 & HSV2 over the last 5 1/2 months due to an exposer from a partner who had both. My exposure was from recieving oral sex and kissing this person. All 7 of my herpes test have been negative all IgG, Immunoblot and even a Western Blot.  All test were type specific. All negative for both types.

My question could this be herpes or is it just a pimple?

Any thoughts you can share on this. It is now day 10 and there is an ever so slight red mark on my lip/skin above my lip line. Again never any hard scabbing or crusting, Once I popped it which was not easy to do because it seemed to be below the surface puss, blood and then some clear fuild came out. I have had pimples as a teen and as I can remember ths is how they acted. What worries me is the location, what it looked liked and how it has healed.

Thanks for your advice.

Thanks for the reply. I would agree that it seems like a cold sore. I was exposed to the herpes virus 7 months ago and I have had 7 test at 4,7,12 (igG),13(WB),15(Immuno Blot),17 (IgG) ,22(IgG) weeks post exposure. All were negative. All test were type specific. herpes select IgG, Immunoblot and WB. All negative. Five of the test were were done post 12 months exposure. Iw oudl have thought one of the test would have registered something by now.

What about the puss coming out of the sore would that be typical of herpes? Also the fact that it never was a red scab and there was no yellow brown scabbing at all just skin rejuvenating. It has now been 9 day and there is little to no evidence of it there other than the skin still a little tight in the healing process. Which is normal for any wound I would imagine

Your symptoms sound like Herpes. However, your recent screening coming up negative leads me to believe its not HSV. A proper screening would detect if you've been exposed and/or contracted HSV.

Specific to HSV on the lips (cold sores), once the virus has subsided it typically turns into a red scab. Pimples generally don't tingle.

HSV is often triggered by exsessive sun exposure, stress and recent contact with an active partner.
